About Auromode guesthouse
Auromode welcomes you in the center of Auroville.
Created in 1975, this former fashion factory has been transformed in 2014 into a guesthouse and offices.
The campus offers several services including the famous Italian restaurant Tanto, Hive coworking space, a yoga space and many more.
Nowadays, Auromode guesthouse is one of the largest in Auroville, employing more than 15 people from Auroville and villages around.
It’s a peaceful destination to simply explore Auroville but also a great choice if you are looking for a place to work from home.

How did Auroville start?
The concept of Auroville – an ideal township devoted to an experiment in human unity – came to the Mother as early as the 1930s. In the mid 1960s the concept was developed and put before the Govt. of India, who gave their backing and took it to the General Assembly of UNESCO. In 1966 UNESCO passed a unanimous resolution commending it as a project of importance to the future of humanity, thereby giving their full encouragement.
